description   Methamphetamine use in Nevada is at epidemic proportions and is considered to be a root cause of crime, child abuse, homelessness, and serious health issues.  Nevada leads the nation with the highest crime index in the United States, is the Methamphetamine capital of America, leads the national average in the highest high school youth using Meth at 12.5% as compared to 7.6%, and has the largest homeless population in the nation.

As members of the Community Interfaith Council (CIC), Valley is the southwest training and education center for the Crystal Darkness Campaign, an education and call-to-action initiative.  Valley provide training for our community.

This is an awesome opportunity to be a part of a faith-based army of volunteers to educate and inform our communities the dangers of Methamphetamine, and do so with the love and compassion of Christ, on the road of healing and restoration.  This is all part of a massive grass roots effort that involves our schools, churches, law enforcement, local government agencies, business community and recovery organizations.

Valley is actively recruiting and training volunteers to become trainers.  Additionally we are educating families and individuals that want more information regarding this deadly drug.  Training sessions are tentatively scheduled every Friday at 7:00 pm; dependent on attendance and response.

Current scheduled trainings :

  • CURRENTLY NO TRAINING SCHEDULED

description   There is no better way to start the day than to be in His Word!  Join us everyday as we read the Word, fellowship, and pray!  ...and Starbucks Coffee too!

Our devotionals are usually about one hour long and consist of one chapter in the Old Testament and one chapter in the New Testament.  Each person reads to themselves the chapters and then after 30 minutes, the group shares rhemas (God's Word spoken personally to you).  It’s a powerful way to share what God spoke to each person, especially for new believers who have trouble understanding what they are reading.  They get to see first hand how God’s Word is revealed to each person and begin to understand how to hear God through His Word.  Valley is very strong on teaching one to hear God and God’s will for your life.

description   Valley is excited to participate in the One Congregation - One Family community-wide faith-based initiative to address homelessness for families.  This program matches faith-based organizations (and mentoring teams) with a family that is graduating from a transitional housing program.  Families in transitional housing programs (or similar homeless service programs) receive housing, job placement, life skills classes and other supportive services until they are ready to handle these functions on their own.  The One Congregation - One Family program supports families graduating from the transitional housing programs for another six months, helping them move toward self-sufficiency.

Valley is actively seeking mentors and financial sponsors to assist in these efforts.  As a mentor, you will provide :

  • Budgeting guidance
  • Give material and relational support
  • Guide client family toward meeting personal goals

Mentoring teams will participate as follows :

  • Attend a 90-minute training
  • Call client family twice a week
  • Meet with client family twice per month
  • Guide family towards self-sufficiency

The One Congregation - One Family program was developed by the Community Interfaith Council (CIC), which Valley is an active member and participant.  The CIC’s mission is to provide resources and build opportunities for partnerships in order to better serve the community’s needs.  It accomplishes this mission by collaborating with the city of Las Vegas Mayor and Council on community issues, connecting with other faith organizations, and engaging the faith community to more effectively meet the needs of target populations.

For more information, see Jim Crelia or Tish Roberson.
